Meal 1. Beef Bolognese
I love pasta!! I don’t eat it as often anymore for waist line management, but I was really excited for the fresh papperdelle. This was our favorite of all of the meals. Very simple to make. All of the recipes come with a detailed recipe card that has pictures of each step. Yummmy!!!!!!
We were missing an ingredient from this recipe which was disappointing because it was Jimica. This was something I had never even heard of before so I was looking forward to trying it. The tacos came out, just ok. I ended up putting the slaw/salad right on top of the tacos since we were missing the Jimca, but they were really spicy. I thought it needed just a little something to cut the spice like sour cream or some kind of cold sauce. I reached out to Blue Apron about the missing Jimca and they gave me a $9.99 (1 meal) credit. I loved the customer service! Things happen, but I like it when a business tries to make it right!
This soup was BOMB. There is no other way to describe it. #bomb. The soup was savory and spicy. The shrimp came out great as well. Now my hubby made this dish and put the entire serving of curry paste in the recipe! It was spicy but still editable. In the future I would probably cut back on some of the spice.
2. Freshness of Ingredients: My box was shipped from New Jersey. I live in Missouri. My box traveled 2 days and everything was still frozen and cold, but some of the produce, particularly the cilantro, was wilted beyond use. I would have rather paid $7.99 per meal and had to provide my own cilantro or parsley.
SO would I do it again…YES. I plan to keep my membership and look at what the meals are each week and pick some things I normally would not make. I would love to cook more international flavors, but how to start? This gives you an easy way!
