Cue the confetti!
So let me first say, I had already started writing a weight loss update post called the plateau. Yep, I thought I hit the plateau…and I am sure it might be coming, but I lost 2.1 lbs this weight in…so I guess not???
The real title of this post is: I thought I hit a plateau after not loosing any weight last weigh in but with dramatic flair, I weighed myself Saturday and lost 2.1 lbs so now I have lost a total of 51 lbs.
I thought that might have been a little long.
So, on to the update. In my last post about weight, I spoke about how it is getting harder. My calories per day is down to 1330 which is a challenge. Since I have been on this journey for awhile, I am starting to want more “treats” and (within reason) I am allowing myself to have them. I never want to make my weight the focal point of my life here. But given all of those things, it is making the journey harder.
Not much has changed with my overall workout. In a typical week, I workout 5 times per week. I usually do Zumba and 30 minutes of kickboxing on Mondays, Zumba on Wednesdays, Spinning on Thursdays, and Zumba on Saturdays. Fridays have been a bit of a wild card since they have changed the gym class schedule in October. I have done some Zumba, jogging, Jillian Michaels 30 day shred, and Taebo.
I noticed things started to slow down once I changed to 1330 calories per day vs. 1450 calories per day. When I got to 40 lbs lost, the calories adjusted and I noticed I was no longer loosing the same amounts. I weigh myself every two weeks and in that time I should loose a minimum of 2 lbs (My calorie deficit is set to loose 1 lb per week). So over the past few months, my last 3 weight ins were .8 lbs lost, 1.3 lbs lost, and then no lbs lost. So naturally I thought I had hit the plateau.
If I am being honest, I think the culprit might have been eating out. I have been out to dinner with friends for several birthdays, and lunch with friends. The low numbers might have just been the result of overeating. Maybe??
So help me out guys..what do you think is going on?? Weight loss starting to wain, and then boom 2.1 lbs lost. Are we back? Did I overeat? Did my body take a break? Was this a fluke?
Oh, I want to address Thanksgiving because I am sure some people are wondering if I am planning an organic, meat free, low calorie, Thanksgiving and the answer to that is absolutely not! I plan to eat. Here is my plan:
I plan to have a plate on Thanksgiving and some sweet potato pie.
I plan to have a plate on Black Friday and some sweet potato pie.
Around those two meals, I will probably have cereal or a smootie or something else light. To be honest, I just can’t eat the way I used to. I will feel HORRIBLE. We all know that “I ate too much” feeling. So I have to be smart. On Thanksgiving especially because I plan to shop till I drop (or I run out of funds) and last year I was super full. It just wasn’t a good time. So I am going to try to take it easy on the side dishes this year. I am also having plenty of salad that entire week just to give me some extra calories. I also plan to get workouts in on Thanksgiving and Black Friday.
