I am not sure where I first heard these quotes:
“Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results”
“You cannot expect something different if you keep doing the same thing”
They pretty much have the same meaning:
Change = Different
No Change = Same
I am sure that I am not alone in feeling like I want something different in my life. The problem is the change. Typically humans do not make lots of changes, but we are constantly expecting different results. Some examples:
I want to be a size 2, but I still want to eat whatever I want…
I want am tired of the job I do every day, but I am not qualified to do anything else. I really don’t feel like going back to school though…
I want to move, but…
Basically for me whenever I inserted but followed by an excuse, this was my formula to basically engage in no change, but expect different results.
So this is the year that I am saying no more and I am going to step out and make some real changes in my life. One of those changes is Simply Different Imperfect Change.
I value a simple life. Our world is so fast now. We can jump on our smartphones and answer any question, solve any riddle. As much as I love my IPhone (her name is North by the way), I want to make sure when my husband and I have kids that they have some normal kid experiences. Go play in the dirt, maybe even the street. #kidding
I struggle with perfection. I like everything to be done right. This has also been one of my stumbling blocks when it comes to simply starting anything. If it can’t be right or perfect, it goes to the back burner. I am clearly on a journey to let go of perfectionism.
So that is the background of the blog name. It is a mash up of all of the things I am working on in my life: Living Simply, Making Different Choices, Embracing The Imperfect, Making Changes, OH and having fun:)
